Mathematics
At Boyare Primary School, Mathematics is a focal learning area and a subject of strength and passion for many of our students. Lessons are delivered in a variety of ways including hands-on learning activities, games, and specific maths resources catering for the need at different levels. Boyare Primary students are supported in the journey to achieve their best and work hard every day to develop fluency in their skills, understanding and knowledge across all learning strands – Number & Algebra, Statistics & Probability and Measurement & Geometry.
All students practise year level Mental Maths at least three times a week and have access to several extension opportunities throughout the school year. Top students (identified through PAT testing) participate in weekly extension Mathematics lessons and some are selected to participate in the annual Australian Mathematics Competition.
